Smile for London @ CBS screens – London Tube
Few undergrounds have the advertising installations the London Tube has (despite being a horribly hot, old & deficient transport system). All those CBS projectors, all those TVs on the tunnels, escalators.... truly invasive, persuasive... efficient? And here comes an initiative by the guys @ memepartnership (Alex Stevens & Jo Kotas) that will eradicate all ads from those CBSO platform screens, and many of you will probably think it's another "arty" clever campaign, but it won't be... The Smile for London…
Find out more »Museo ABC – Madrid
The "old" Madrid keeps rejuvenating every now and then and all those mental hospitals, electric power-stations, old theaters, breweries & dirty warehouses are finding new uses & opportunities.... sometimes multinationals buy old cultural buildings (Zara, H&M....) others it's the other way round... and if not the local government, private foundations may also help with the creation of these new cultural spots in Madrid's city center.... Casa Encendida, CaixaForum and the newspaper ABC has just inaugurated the ABC Museum of Drawing…

Hoppé @ National Portrait Gallery – London
It's been on for more than a month now, but I hadn't had much time to visit one of the few current exhibitions in London worth paying for... Hoppé's Society, Studio & Street ... a short but intense look at the English middle low class (and so much more) of the daily life in Britain between wars. Speakers’ Corner, Hyde Park, London by E.O. Hoppé, 1934 Mr Emil Otto Hoppé was originally German (but highly critical with the Nazi party),…
Find out more »The Diorama Map Series
Sohei Nishino's Diorama Series are finally in London (even though Mr Saatchi owns a few of his works already) and will be exhibiting @ the Michael Hoppen Gallery until April 2nd. You've probably seen Nishino's Diorama series... Tokyo, London, Paris, Istanbul... a rising young gem of contemporary Japanese photography whose gigantic works try to map some of the world's most important cities (hey Sohei where's Madrid?!!). His collages are not precise geographic recreations, but an imperfect mix of landmarks and…
Find out more »Independent Games Festival @ IGF Pavilion – San Francisco
After more than 10 years showcasing some of the most original games in the industry, the Independent Games Festival is back for its 2011 edition next March. Some call it the "Sundance" for game developers, others see it as a the only way of catapulting their careers. And the big studios seek each edition for new talent to hire. (Max & the magic marker winner of last year's D2D division award @ IGF) The festival has awarded hundred of thousands…

Dock’s Docs
A documentary remix competition? You may know 200 different types, but this is the first time we've personally heard of the "Remix" series. And because it doesn't seem that crazy (and also it's part of the Euroean Culture Congress), oh and because it's a creative contest (one of those with prizes) we thought you could be interested... First, let's give you the contest of why it's called "Dock's Docs", even though you may have already guessed... For those of you…
Find out more »SXSW 2011 @ Austin – Texas
The grooviest, indiest, geekiest and probably most respected mix of festivals in southern U.S. (which also helps the Texas economy.... a lot) is due in just 2 months... nearly 25 years old and bringing each year some of the best musicians, performances & professionals to set the trend for the coming months; and as you know other related things that go with music... films, workshops, talks, interactive media... all around the American scene, but also international: SXSW. This year the…
Find out more »Inside Out @ Since Upian – Paris
Ahhhh we love Since Upian, tiny but powerful exhibitions, always discovering some of the best artists from the plastic & graphic scene (but not only!). Their latest addition? Monsieur Régis-R... The prince of plastic, who'll be exhibiting @ the Parisian gallery until the end of next month. Régis-R (born in Bordeaux now living in Paris) is one of those contemporary French artists who loves plastic, in all its forms, and if he can glorify it... even better! But he likes…
Find out more »Embody
And after the Barbara Streisand crazy & insanely sticky Duck Sauce song that kept you all dancing last autumn, So-Me (more well known as the director and visual artist for all Ed-Banger records related videos) is back with this "Embody" by Sebastian. Oh and you might be interested to know (if you're that fan of So-Me and live in Canada) that he's exhibiting the very pop portraits he made for his pals @ Ed Banger (and made him world famous)…
Find out more »Kubrick @ Cinémathèque Francaise – Paris
Very few directors can prove to have pushed sci-fi cinema, special effects and taboos further away than Kubrick, a genius which was (like most) a polemical & bizarre figure outside his work. It is the first time that La Cinémathèque française hosts a travelling exhibition not initiated by their own teams but by those of another institution. This Kubrick exhibition owes its existence to the Deutsches Filmmuseum in Frankfurt and to Hans-Peter Reichmann, its Curator, who designed it in 2004…
